No to Low Cost

Hey – the economy is, shall we say, challenging.  Low and no cost leisure activities are very welcome these days.  Something that can keep you occupied is checking out the birds and critters frolicking outside the window.

Bird watching

Birds are a fun draw. When you can put out some stale bread or bird seed, you may create a reliable stopping place for the local feathered buddies. If you want to identify them but don’t own a bird book, the no-cost way to obtain one is through freecycling, a craigslist ad, or the library.

Squirrel watching

In our area, if there are any squirrels, they also will be attracted by bird food. This gives you an opportunity to view other creatures of nature who brave the winter weather. I am not seeing many rabbits, however, I recognize their tracks and know they also are out and about.

A bonus to all the winter watching is that it can continue into the rest of the year.
